The fourth annual Wedding Planner Masterclass was held at the luxurious and serene resort Ventana Big Sur, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This year’s group of attendees came from throughout the US, Canada and Mexico, sparking interesting conversations in the classroom about planning weddings in different markets. Upon arrival, students were welcomed with beautiful amenity baskets with designed alongside ARJ Soiree and Yonder Design, then surprised in the classroom with stylish Cuyana backpacks (perfect to wear during a busy day of event set-up).
Our welcome dinner was held on the terrace of Sur House, Ventana’s award-winning restaurant. We created a modern but slightly bohemian tablescape, utilizing Casa de Perrin’s pieces and accents of horn and matte black by Yonder Design. Tinge Floral’s centerpieces and candles completed the table top, but didn’t compete with the show-stopping floral installations she placed over the table. It was a magical evening to kick off the week.
For the wedding shoot and Farewell Dinner, we were inspired by the idea of a classic white wedding but updated in a cool, bohemian way that fit the Big Sur environment. Yonder Design’s invitation suite incorporated lots of textural elements like ceramic, letterpress and linen. The tangible quality of the paper goods was echoed in the intricate designs of the Naeem Khan gowns our bride/model wore.
A spectacular week culminated at our Farewell Dinner, a long table inside a “glass house” built by Standard Party Rentals. The vision was a sleek structure that allowed views of the the sea and stars, but protected us from a chilly March evening. The chandeliers overhead were the perfect find, with their soft glow and ocean-like quality. In addition to the textured linens, menus and place cards, we incorporated Casa de Perrin’s black rim glass chargers to tie to the structure. Spectacular music by Elan Artists set the mood throughout the evening, ending in a fun late night silent disco.
